Trivia: This was Sonny’s last project with us. Even though he decided that he would like to “retire” from the group back in the spring, he continued on with us until August so that we could complete this project and take our time finding a replacement. We will always be grateful to Sonny for making the transition so easy for us. That’s why we gave “the old guy” the chair in this photo!

After we completed this album we auditioned several men but quickly concluded that David was the right man to join our group. The only problem was that David did not sing bass! It is not widely known, but Mark was initially going to switch to bass. However, at the eleventh hour, Jan and Mike decided that losing Mark’s unique lead voice was too dramatic for trying to maintain continuity in our sound. Besides, Dwight could sing lower than Mark! Dwight’s range always amazed us; how he had sung baritones and leads so beautifully for so many years and then could drop down and croak out those low bass tones.
