Trivia: As you can tell, we always enjoyed and audiences responded to what we called the high, hard, endings where the tenor is up high and the bass is down low. On “I Want To Walk”, we end up with a classic 3 octave spread and Dwight covered 2 1/3 octaves himself on his last note roll-off!

About the time we recorded this project we made the decision to disband at the end of the year. There were no fights, disagreements, or any other reason we ended the group other than we were being led in different directions. We continued on and completed our normal concert schedule for the year and used it as a sort-of “farewell tour”. Our final concert was held December 3, 1994 at home in the Detroit area at the Centerline congregation.

We don’t see each other as often as we would like because we all attend different congregations, but we remain very close. We spent a lot of time together and came to love each other and the families very much.

The Messengers sang for almost fourteen years, much longer than we could have ever imagined when we sang for that first mother-daughter banquet in the spring of 1981! We were truly blessed.
